Our community values the Arts. Many of our neighbors are accomplished in the visual and performing Arts. Our children are exposed to the Arts at an early age and many are developing their own gifts in school programs. There is no better place to showcase their emerging talents than

In September 2005 S.T.A.R. incorporated as a non-profit Arts organization. Our status as a 501(c) (3) corporation allows us to accept tax deductible donations. We involve more families in our productions as the demand for community theatre grows.

In 2006, we expanded our programs to involve adults and younger children. In January 2006, neighborhood adults shared the limelight with their children in a lively musical revue, “A Little Bit of Broadway.” We followed with a production of “Hello Dolly” which went “on tour” to the Charlestown Retirement Community. At the end of June, “Goin’ Buggy” let our youngest members shine.  Our middle and high school students presented “Peter Pan” to finish our summer season.  Some STAR members prefer working backstage. We ran a Tech Camp in July where our teen members learned behind the scenes stage crafts like special effects, audio, and lights from theatre professionals.

A generous grant from the Baltimore Community Foundation enabled us to purchase a new sound system and new lighting equipment.

Our programs are growing and we continue to develop new programs to serve our growing community. We draw participants from Relay, Arbutus, Catonsville, Lansdowne and nearby areas. All of these programs require a lot of volunteers. We hope you will join our S.T.A.R. family this year.

There are many ways you can become involved. We always need help on productions. Working with costumes, props, and set construction are ways to use your creative energy. For those who are more business minded, we can use you in ticket sales and publicity. We can use your help with printed programs and t-shirts.  Providing support for our casts with snacks and refreshments and a cast party after the show is a great way for parents to participate. Let us know what you want to do and we'll find a way to include you in the fun.

S.T.A.R. Board meetings are held on the first Monday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at the Relay Town Hall and all are invited. Our Annual meeting and election of Board members is held the first Monday in October.
